Dr. Prianka Singapura is a board-certified gastroenterologist and the newest addition to Gastrointestinal Care Consultants. She spent part of her childhood on the west coast before her family relocated to Sugar Land, so she is thrilled to be serving her hometown community. Dr. Singapura completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, then medical school at Baylor College of Medicine. She stayed at Baylor College of Medicine for her Internal Medicine internship and residency, and is board certified in Internal Medicine. She then completed her Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. Singapura has been involved in clinical research investigating the accuracy of current tuberculosis testing in patients with IBD, GI bleeding in patients with implanted LVAD, and the accuracy of renal function surrogate equations in patients with end-stage liver disease seeking dual organ transplantation. Her particular areas of interest include inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease and women’s health. She is an active member of the Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society, Texas Society for Gastroenterology and Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Singapura strongly believes in shared decision making between physician and patient. Patient education is of the utmost importance to her and she aims to help patients weigh the risks and benefits of all medical decisions. In her free time, Dr. Singapura enjoys traveling, working out, watching sports, and spending time outdoors with her husband, daughter and dog.
